niamh porter

Niamh Porter’s practice involves the reproduction of architectural forms into painting; architecture acting as a vehicle for exploring materials, form, colour and light. Her current research looks at the key female designers of the Modernist movement and how our understanding of domestic space has evolved. In 2019, Niamh joined the long-term Artist-in-Residence Scheme at Ormston House and became a member of Spacecraft studios.

Niamh graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2016 with a first class honours (BA) in Fine Art, Painting. She was awarded the Screaming Pope Prize at K-fest 2017 for The Shell Centre from Capital: Icons of Modernity. Recent group exhibitions in 2018 and 2019 include Spacecraft Members Show, 64 Catherine Street, Limerick; Peak Show, the Sailor’s Home, Limerick; Winter Open, Rua Red, Dublin; and the Kerry Visual Artist Showcase, Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Killarney. Her work is represented in the Office of Public Works, Ireland.
